Saturday Musing - Be the Best You Can Be

In 1980, the US Army adopted a new slogan, “Be all you can be”. Developed by Earl Carter working for the N.W. Ayer Advertising Agency, the slogan was in effect from 1980-2001 and was so successful, it’s in the Advertising Hall of Fame.

The team held a round table discussion the other night and Ed brought up the topic of how he felt he was failing in building his relationship with God and said something that has made me think. Rather then try to be some version of himself that he felt he needed to be so he could deepen his connection to Jesus, he said he realized that God wanted him to be the best Ed he could be and not some other version influenced by how he was trying to define the relationship.

And I thought, what a great way to approach not just God but life in general. So today I will try and be the best Fred I can be. And my wish for all of you is to be the best version of yourself as you face your family, your friends, your spirituality, the world, and whatever you face.

Peace

Fred

  1. Amen. The “everyday” Fred is so awesome…but excited to see what the “best” Fred had in store!
